Free time and Bounds

Boarders at King’s are very lucky to have the High Street with its masses of shops, coffee places and eateries just two minutes away from school. The historic streets trodden and written about by Dickens are all around the school site and the Cathedral and Castle are on the doorstep too. Bluewater Shopping and Leisure Centre - which is one of the largest in Europe - is just a bus ride away and London can be reached easily by train in 35 minutes. There are regular trips out on either Saturday evenings or Sunday afternoons each weekend. These include trips to places of interest, the cinema or shopping centres. There is truly no shortage of things to do within easy reach of school!

The joint Boarding Houses take part in regular House competitions against other school houses. Many of the boarders participate in School Teams, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, the Choirs and Orchestras.

Free time during the School day is covered by the School Rules and is the same for boarders and day pupils alike. Other free time is determined by the timetable of the House day. Boarders are encouraged to use this time in a constructive manner, but also for quiet relaxation.

House Bounds are rules which make clear to boarders, appropriate to boarders’s ages, where they may and may not go outside School and when.
